Rechtsonder gesigneerd \u201c<em>Spies Fecit<\/em>\u201d Afm. 23,5 x 19,5 cm. (Afbeelding: 20,3 x 16,7 cm.)<\/p>\n<p>Zutphen was in de 17<sup>e<\/sup>&#8211; en 18<sup>e<\/sup>-eeuw een welvarende marktplaats, een levendig centrum voor de wijde landbouw omgeving en hoofdstad van het voormalige graafschap van het Kwartier van Zutphen. Deze frontierstad van de <a href=\"https:\/\/nl.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Republiek_der_Zeven_Verenigde_Nederlanden\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Republiek<\/a> was extra versterkt door een <a href=\"http:\/\/www.regionaalarchiefzutphen.nl\/beeld\/detail\/83153c84-d2d9-11df-acc9-330146576265\/media\/38e9903d-2fe4-bb88-c426-b5d316b65a24\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">ring van bolwerken en wallen<\/a>, nog te zien op de tekening. Vanaf 1855 werden de inmiddels knellende vestingwallen aan de IJsselzijde gesloopt en de vesting opgeheven.<\/p>\n<p>Het aangezicht van de stad en de IJssel is in de loop der eeuwen sterk veranderd, maar het indrukwekkende torensilhouet van Zutphen bleef een constante factor: <em>Zutphania Turrita<\/em> [Zutphen torenstad]. Op de tekening zien we de vlnr de toren van het Pesthuys, de <a href=\"https:\/\/nl.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Nieuwstadskerk\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Nieuwstadskerk<\/a>, de <a href=\"http:\/\/www.historiezutphen.nl\/images\/torens\/set_Broederenkerk.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Broederenkerk<\/a>, de <a href=\"http:\/\/www.historiezutphen.nl\/images\/torens\/set_Wijnhuistoren.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Wijnhuistoren<\/a> en de <a href=\"http:\/\/www.historiezutphen.nl\/images\/torens\/set_Walburgiskerk.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Walburgiskerk<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Hendrik Spies (1775-1841) was een tekenleraar die enige faam verwierf met sepia tekeningen en aquarellen van Zutphen.<\/p>\n<p>Prijs: VERKOCHT<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>ZUTPHEN TORENSTAD \u201cDe Stad Zutphen van den zogenaamden canonsdijk te zien. 1807.\u201d Tekening met pen en aquarelverf van de hand van Hendrik Spies.
