Gouache op papier, ontwerp voor een reclame affiche van de hand van<strong> Lode Sebregts<\/strong>. <strong>Begin jaren 1930<\/strong>. Gesigneerd linksboven. Afm.: ca. 70 x 53 cm.<\/p>\n<p>De in 1885 op de Antwerpse Groenplaats geopende <a href=\"https:\/\/nl.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Grand_Bazar\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Grand Bazar<\/a> du Bon March\u00e9 werd een begrip tot ver buiten de stad. De opening van het luxe warenhuis was meteen ook het begin van het plein als modecentrum. Vaxelaire-Claes opende amper een jaar na Grand Bazar een al even luxe warenhuis op de hoek met de Nationalestraat.<\/p>\n<p>De prachtige hoeden en kokette mantelpakjes, waarmee de Antwerpse vrouw van de prille twintigste eeuw over de straat paradeerde, waren niet zelden gekocht in \u00e9\u00e9n van deze warenhuizen naar Parijs&#8217; model. Van de twee warenhuizen is tegenwoordig nog maar weinig over. Vaxelaire-Claes ruimde plaats voor een mislukt winkelcentrum. De Grand Bazar werd omgebouwd tot Hilton hotel.<\/p>\n<p>Dit ontwerp voor een affiche voor de wintercollectie moet begin jaren 1930 tot stand zijn gekomen. De baret van de jaren 1920 was groter geworden. Asymmetrisch, hoog aan de achterzijde en laag aan de voorkant. Het vilt werd gesteven zodat het niet slap naar beneden zou hangen.<\/p>\n<p>De Antwerpenaar <a href=\"https:\/\/nl.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Lode_Sebregts\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Lode Sebregts<\/a> (1906-2002) was kunstschilder, schrijver, tekenaar, leraar, afficheontwerper, decor- en kostuumontwerper.
