Regout, a Maestricht. <\/em><\/strong><strong><em>Fabricant de fayences et Cristalleries a Maestricht<\/em><\/strong>&#8220;, <a href=\"https:\/\/nl.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Chromolithografie\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">chromolithografie<\/a> in kleur vervaardigd door <strong>Theodore M\u00fcller<\/strong> en uitgegeven door <strong>Lemercier<\/strong> te Parijs in <strong>1863<\/strong> (of 1864). Uit het &#8220;<em>Album d\u00e9di\u00e9 \u00e0 mes enfants et mes amis<\/em>&#8220;.\u00a0 Afm.\u00a0: (incl. tekst) 49 x 63 cm.<\/p>\n<p>We zien een deel van het fabrieksterrein van <a href=\"https:\/\/nl.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Petrus_Laurentius_Regout\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Pierre Regout<\/a> aan de Boschstraat te Maastricht, richting westen. Links de Penitentenpoort. De schoorstenen braken inktzwarte rook uit, toentertijd een teken van blakende welvaart en economische voorspoed\u2026<\/p>\n<p>Aan de Boschstraat ligt de bakermat van de industri\u00eble ontwikkeling van Maastricht. In 1827 kocht de moeder van Pierre Regout het pand aan de Boschstraat 1303, strategisch gelegen tegenover de in het voorgaande jaar geopende binnenhaven <a href=\"https:\/\/tbassin.nl\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Bassin<\/a>. In het woonhuis werd een kristalslijperij gevestigd. Twee jaar later kocht Regout het aangrenzende pand Het Rood Paard, waar hij in 1834 de eerste stoommachine plaatste. Vanaf ca. 1835 breidde het complex van fabrieken zich gestaag uit langs de noordzijde van de straat.<\/p>\n<p>Volgens de wervende tekst onder de voorstelling zien we \u201ceen nieuw gebouw met 21 woningen, zowel gemeubileerd als ongemeubileerd, allemaal onafhankelijk. Aan een grote trap bij de hoofdingang liggen vier galerijen aan de achterzijde en elke woning heeft een aparte ingang. Er zijn garages en stallingen voor auto&#8217;s en fabriekswagens. Het is zo geconstrueerd dat het beschut is tegen vuur: een gewelf van en ijzeren balken van de kelder tot aan de zolder. Er zijn 21 kelders en 21 zolders, er is een pomp die water naar alle woningen pompt. Het gas wordt naar elke woonkamerkroonluchter geleid, naar de keukens, de grote trap, de zolder, de kelders en het erf. Ook de vier winkels op de begane grond worden verlicht door gas uit industri\u00eble installaties. Links op de binnenplaats is een ziekenboeg en een school voor kinderen van jonge arbeiders. Bijna elke zondag komen er 55 muzikanten in uniform (allen medewerkers van het bedrijf) &#8216;s middags muziek maken. Deze harmonie bestaat 25 jaar en zorgt voor goede muziek. Het aantal werknemers in de 72 fabrieksgebouwen overschrijdt 1 april 1866 al 2400 mensen.
