Stelzer<\/strong> naar een tekening van <strong>Peter van Blankaert<\/strong>, uitgegeven door<strong> Georg Balthasar Probst ca. 1750<\/strong>. In de tijd met de hand gekleurd. Afm.: ca. 27 x 40 cm.<\/p>\n<p>In 1655 werd het stadhuis op de Dam in gebruik genomen. Hoewel het toen nog niet klaar was, noemden Amsterdammers het gebouw trots hun wereldwonder. Bouwmeester <a href=\"https:\/\/nl.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Jacob_van_Campen\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Jacob van Campen<\/a> had voor Hollandse begrippen een buitengewoon monumentaal classicistisch gebouw ontworpen, dat herinnerde aan de architectuur van de Grieken en Romeinen. Een gebouw als afspiegeling van Gods schepping. Een universum in het klein, symmetrisch en volmaakt.<\/p>\n<p>Het stadhuis was het bestuurlijk centrum. Daar beslisten de burgemeesters over de politiek van de stad en zelfs van de <a href=\"https:\/\/nl.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Republiek_der_Zeven_Verenigde_Nederlanden\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Republiek<\/a>. In het stadhuis zetelden ook <a href=\"https:\/\/nl.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Schout#De_Noordelijke_Nederlanden\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">schout<\/a> en <a href=\"https:\/\/nl.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Schepen\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">schepenen<\/a>, kwam de vroedschap bijeen en ook de Wisselbank was er gevestigd, \u00e9\u00e9n van de belangrijkste financi\u00eble instellingen ter wereld.<\/p>\n<p>In 1808 krijgt het stadhuis een andere bestemming en wordt het koninklijk paleis.<\/p>\n<p>Op de Dam zien we naast koetsiers, kruiers en eenvoudige kooplui, ook gegoede burgers en hun bedienden. Op de voorgrond wordt een robbertje gevochten. In de voorstelling ook meerdere toesledes, een 18<sup>e<\/sup>-eeuwse uitvinding om belasting op wagenwielen te ontwijken.<\/p>\n<p>Voor het stadhuis staan de befaamde op olie gestookte straatlantaarns ontworpen door <a href=\"https:\/\/nl.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Jan_van_der_Heyden#De_straatlantaarn\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Jan van der Heijden<\/a>, koperen lantaarns met vier ruitjes (waarvan er een kon worden opengemaakt) en een schoorsteentje bovenop die op een vierkante eikenhouten paal stonden.<\/p>\n<p>Prijs: \u20ac275,-<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>\u201c\u2019t Stadhuys van Amsteldam, van vooren aan te zien\u201d Kopergravure vervaardigd door J.J.
