Scheurleer<\/strong>. Later met de hand gekleurd. Afm. (prent): ca. 28,5 x 40,5 cm (lijst: 50 x 62 cm.)<\/p>\n<p>We zien de <a href=\"https:\/\/nl.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Prinsessegracht\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Prinsessegracht <\/a>links en rechts en in het midden het <a href=\"https:\/\/nl.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Korte_Voorhout\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><u>Korte Voorhout<\/u><\/a>, vanaf de Leidesestraatweg tussen de <a href=\"https:\/\/nl.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Koekamp\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Koekamp<\/a> en de Maliebaan. In het midden de Bosbrug. Op de voorgrond links het hek tot de Koekamp en rechts het wachthuisje ten zuidoosten van de Maliebaan. Op de achtergrond rechts de Kanongieterij aan de Nieuwe Uitleg, tussen de Gietkom links en de Kanonstraat rechts.<\/p>\n<p>De Haagse uitgever en boekverkoper Hendrik Florisz. Scheurleer (1692-1768) speelde in op de populariteit van het stadsgezicht in het midden van de 18<sup>de<\/sup> eeuw. Hij publiceerde een reeks van achttien uiterst informatieve gezichten van Den Haag en directe omgeving die hij allemaal aan Haagse burgemeesters, baljuws of secretarissen opdroeg. Ze zijn gegraveerd door Iven Besoet (ca. 1720-1769) een uit Leiden afkomstige kunstenaar. Dat de reeks een succes was, mag blijken uit de diverse kopie\u00ebn (meestal optica-prenten) die er naar zijn gemaakt. Of Besoet er goed aan heeft verdiend, is echter zeer de vraag, want als we de biografie\u00ebn mogen geloven werd hij wegens wanbetaling zijn huis uitgezet, waarna hij, gehuld in een deken, op straat verbleef en korte tijd later overleed.<\/p>\n<p>Dit gezicht op de Prinsessgracht is opgedragen aan <a href=\"https:\/\/nl.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Abraham_van_Neck\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Abraham van Neck<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/nl.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Schepen\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">schepen<\/a> van Den Haag.
