Later met de hand gekleurd. Afm. 47 x 57 cm.<\/p>\n<p>Matth\u00e4us Seutter was de tweede grote uitgever van kaarten en atlassen in Duitsland, na <a href=\"https:\/\/nl.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Johann_Baptist_Homann\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Johann Baptiste Homann<\/a>. Seutter heeft het vak van Homann geleerd. Hij was niet erg origineel bij uitgaven van kaarten, de meeste zijn kopie\u00ebn, ook van kaarten van zijn leermeester. Deze kaart van Zeeland kon hij niet van Homann kopi\u00ebren, want bij het uitgevershuis van Homann was nog geen kaart van Zeeland verschenen. Door het ontbreken van een eigen kaart heeft Homann zelfs de kaart van Seutter in een atlas opgenomen.<\/p>\n<p>Deze kaart van Zeeland is een kopie van een kaart van <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Alexis-Hubert_Jaillot\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Hubert Jaillot<\/a> en uitgegeven door <a href=\"https:\/\/nl.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Covens_en_Mortier\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Pieter Mortier<\/a>. Niet alleen het kaartbeeld is nauwkeurig gekopieerd, ook de Franstalige toponiemen zijn overgenomen: \u201c<em>Flessingue<\/em>\u201d [Vlissingen], \u201c<em>Escaut occidental<\/em>\u201d [Westerschelde], \u201c<em>Flandre Hollandoise<\/em>\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>De kaart zou gegraveerd zijn door Seutter zelf, maar voor het decoratieve bijwerk maakte hij gebruik van andere grafische kunstenaars.<\/p>\n<p>Na de dood van Matth\u00e4us Seutter in 1757 werden de koperplaten uit zijn nalatenschap verdeeld en kwam de plaat waarvan de kaart van Zeeland gedrukt kan worden in bezit van Tobias Lotter die de kaart, behalve dat hij zijn eigen naam er op zet, ongewijzigd in zijn atlas opnam.<\/p>\n<p>Het cartouche met het wapen van Zeeland weerspiegelt de welvaart van de provincie, door scheepvaart en handel verkregen. Hoewel de Bergsen polder bij de stad Tholen er met de datum van inpoldering (1692) op voorkomt, is het gebied rond <a href=\"https:\/\/nl.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Bommenede\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Bommene(de<\/a>), in 1682 ondergelopen, nog steeds niet als zodanig aangegeven.<\/p>\n<p>Prijs: VERKOCHT<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>&#8220;Zeelandiae Comitatus novissima et accuratissima deineatione mappa Gergraphica&#8220;, kopergravure voor het eerst uitgegeven door Matth\u00e4us Seutter 1731-1741, hier in een derde staat uitgegeven door Tobias Lotter na 1757.
