18e-eeuws landschap met grazende stier en liggend kalf eenden en een visser<\/strong>. Tekening in pen en aquarel naar Pieter Gerardus van Os<\/strong>, ca, 1800<\/strong>. Afm. 32 x 43,5 cm.<\/p>\n

In deze tekening heeft een kunstenaar uit de entourage van Van Os, twee van diens etsen gekopieerd en er een landelijke voorstelling van gemaakt.<\/p>\n

Pieter Gerardus Van Os<\/a> (1776-1839) kwam uit een Haagse kunstenaarsfamilie. De onderwerpen van zijn werk zijn divers, maar vanaf 1805 begon hij zich toe te leggen op landschapsschilderingen met vee en ontwikkelde hij zich tot een echte dierenschilder. Hij volgde hierbij het voorbeeld van de 17e-eeuwse meesters, zoals Paulus Potter<\/a> die vooral bekendheid kreeg met zijn schilderijen van koeien. V\u00f3\u00f3r die tijd legde Van Os in zijn etsen ook al veel dieren vast, zo zijn de stier<\/a> en het kalf<\/a> beide uit 1798.<\/p>\n

Het landleven wordt ge\u00efdealiseerd gezien door de ogen van de stedeling die van het landelijk gebied vervreemd is. Een gelukkige wereld die bestaat uit natuurlijke vreugden en zorgeloosheid in een moreel zuivere omgeving.<\/p>\n
