Scheurleer<\/strong>. Later met de hand gekleurd. Afm. (prent): ca. 28,5 x 40,5 cm.<\/p>\n<p>We zien het stadhuis aan de <a href=\"https:\/\/nl.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Dagelijkse_Groenmarkt_(Den_Haag)\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Groenmarkt<\/a> rechts met de nieuwe vleugel door <a href=\"https:\/\/nl.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Dani%C3%ABl_Marot_(1660\/1661-1752)\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Dani\u00ebl Marot<\/a> links, gezien vanaf een hoog punt op de Riviervismarkt. Op de voorgrond links en midden (waar het koor etc. van de Grote of St. Jacobskerk zou moeten domineren) is een te ruim plein gefantaseerd. Geheel links aan de rand van het kerkplein het koffiehuis Hof van Holland ongeveer ter plaatse van de latere Berlage-bouw.<\/p>\n<p>De Haagse uitgever en boekverkoper Hendrik Florisz. Scheurleer (1692-1768) speelde in op de populariteit van het stadsgezicht in het midden van de 18<sup>de<\/sup> eeuw. Hij publiceerde een reeks van achttien uiterst informatieve gezichten van Den Haag en directe omgeving die hij allemaal aan Haagse burgemeesters, baljuws of secretarissen opdroeg. Ze zijn gegraveerd door Iven Besoet (ca. 1720-1769) een uit Leiden afkomstige kunstenaar. Dat de reeks een succes was, mag blijken uit de diverse kopie\u00ebn (meestal optica-prenten) die er naar zijn gemaakt. Of Besoet er goed aan heeft verdiend, is echter zeer de vraag, want als we de biografie\u00ebn mogen geloven werd hij wegens wanbetaling zijn huis uitgezet, waarna hij, gehuld in een deken, op straat verbleef en korte tijd later overleed.<\/p>\n<p>Dit gezicht op het stadhuis is opgedragen aan <a href=\"https:\/\/nl.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Frederik_Hendrik_van_Wassenaer\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Frederik Hendrik van Wassenaer<\/a>, heer van de beide Katwijken, &#8216;t Zandt, Valkenburg, <a href=\"https:\/\/nl.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Baljuw\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">baljuw<\/a> en <a href=\"https:\/\/nl.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Schout\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">schout<\/a> van Den Haag.<\/p>\n<p>Prijs: Euro 625,-<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>HET OUDE STADHUIS TE &#8216;S GRAVENHAGE &#8220;Gezicht van het Stad-Huys van &#8216;s Hage&#8221; kopergravure vervaardigd door Iven Besoet en uitgegeven in 1760 door Hendrik Florisz.
