In de tijd met de hand gekleurd. Afmeting: ca. 21 x 34 cm.<\/p>\n<p>De ruisvoorn is een licht afgeplatte vis, die in het volwassen stadium steeds hoger en steviger wordt. De ruisvoorn wordt vaak met de <a title=\"Blankvoorn\" href=\"https:\/\/inter-antiquariaat.nl\/antiek\/diversen\/vissen\/blankvoorn-markus-elieser-bloch-1782-1795\/\">blankvoorn<\/a> verward. Er zijn wel enkele verschillen:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>De blankvoorn heeft een rood\/oranje vlek boven de pupil. Dit is bij kleine exemplaren al duidelijk. Het oog van de ruisvoorn is egaal geelachtig.<\/li>\n<li>De rugvin van de ruisvoorn is verder naar achteren geplaatst.<\/li>\n<li>De bek van de ruisvoorn is bovenstandig, van de blankvoorn eindstandig.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>De ruisvoorn komt veel voor in iets voedselrijker helder water met veel waterplanten. Hij leeft in scholen aan het oppervlak van het water.<\/p>\n<p>Marcus Elieser Bloch (1723-1799) was van eenvoudige, joodse afkomst. Hij studeerde medicijnen in Berlijn en Frankfurt (Oder) en hij vestigde zich als arts in Berlijn.<\/p>\n<p>Bloch liet een groot oeuvre na van publicaties over diverse natuurhistorische onderwerpen. Zijn belangrijkste werk is de <em>Allgemeine Naturgeschichte der Fische<\/em> dat tussen 1782 en 1795 in 12 delen verscheen. De hierin opgenomen kopergravures zijn niet alleen van wetenschappelijke, maar ook van grote artistieke waarde. Dit werk was tijdens het leven van Bloch en ook nog lang daarna het belangrijkste werk over vissen. Bloch nam maar weinig tekst van andere auteurs over en baseerde zich vooral op het materiaal uit zijn eigen collectie.
