Later met de hand gekleurd. Afm. (afb.): 19,7 x 29 cm.<\/p>\n<p>Hoewel in de 18e en 19e eeuw bijna elk jaar wel ijs op de Maas lag, waren winters waarin men zich langdurig op het ijs kon vermaken zeldzaam. Dit gebeurde in de jaren 1776, 1784, 1838 (deze prent) en nog eens in 1855. De aanblik van de Maas was er dan een van arresleden, tentjes, kramen, schaatsenrijders, wandelaars en zelfs harddraverijen.<\/p>\n<p>Het schaatsenrijden op de bevroren Maas moet voor de Rotterdamse gemeenschap geweldig geweest zijn. Midden 19e eeuw werd dat als volgt verwoord: &#8220;Zij doet ons dankbaar getuigen: het ijsvermaak op de Maas, door velen gewenscht; afwisselend en kort van duur; vrolijk genoten; voor onzen landaard berekend; gul en open gesmaakt; door allerlei menschen waargenomen; toonbeeld voor het persoonlijk, gezellig, maatschappelijk leven; spiegel van zelfkennis; wijs en liefderijk verleend, was een goede gave van Hem, Die een welgevallen heeft in de schuldeloze blijmoedigheid Zijner kinderen&#8221;\u009d.<\/p>\n<p>Prijs: Euro 975,-<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>&#8220;DE MAAS VOOR ROTTERDAM IN 1838&#8221; Steendruk vervaardigd in 1838 door Simon de Visser naar een tekening van Carel Christiaan Anthony Last (1808-1876).
