Uitgegeven in <strong>1837-1844<\/strong> als deel van \u201c<em>Gezigten in de omstreken van Haarlem<\/em>\u201d. Later met de hand gekleurd. Afm. (incl. tekst) 19 x 23,5 cm.<\/p>\n<p>De historie van het Huis te Manpad op de voorstelling gaat terug tot 1634-1640. Cornelis Heuts bouwde toen op deze plek in Heemstede een buitenhuis. Het voorste gedeelte van het Huis is tegenwoordig nog uit die periode.<\/p>\n<p>Tot begin 18e-eeuw hebben verschillende eigenaren, Hester du Pire, Dani\u00ebl Lestevenon en Cornelis van Goor, genoten van het buitenverblijf: diverse lofdichten uit die periode gaan over feesten en partijen op het Huis te Manpad. Maar soms was het ook gewoon een belegging. Van Goor heeft voor vele gebiedsuitbreidingen gezorgd. Door aankoop van gronden, of uitruil met andere terreinen, ontstond &#8216;<em>een hofstede met zijn herenhuizinge, stallinge, koets- en wagenhuis<\/em>&#8216;.<\/p>\n<p>Rond het jaar 1720 werd het huis ingrijpend verbouwd. Na 1720 werd mr. Wigbold Slicher de nieuwe eigenaar van de buitenplaats. Dirk van der Meer verbouwde en verfraaide de buitenplaats rond 1730 nogmaals. De weduwe van Van der Meer, Debora Elias, heeft omstreeks 1741 en 1742 aan tuinarchitect Adriaan Speelman de opdracht gegeven voor de aanleg van een nieuwe tuin met een grotere parterre. In 1767 verkocht Elias de buitenplaats voor 58.000 gulden aan mr. David van Lennep. De familie Van Lennep heeft het Huis te Manpad bijna 200 jaar in bezit gehad.
