Deze reclame voor het Brusselse Charles & Cie., Pelleteries Fourrures<\/em> (bontmode) toont elegant geklede vrouwen gehuld in modieuze stola\u2019s, kragen en hoeden. De voorstellingen ademen de sfeer van de late Belle \u00c9poque: stedelijke elegantie en het leven in de salons en rond de boulevards aan het begin van de twintigste eeuw. Grote hoeden, lange, slanke silhouetten en gracieus, door de Parijse haute couture gedicteerd voorkomen.<\/p>\n

Jean Droit<\/a> (1884-1961) wist deze vrouwen niet alleen als dragers van luxueuze kleding weer te geven, maar geven ook een beeld van de moderne vrouw. Zij bewegen zich zichtbaar en vrij in de publieke ruimte \u2013 op straat, winkelend, lezend \u2013 al blijft hun wereld die van welstand, stijl en sociale distinctie. De litho\u2019s zijn daarmee zowel reclame als modebeeld: zij verkopen bont, maar ook een ideaal van elegantie en moderne vrouwelijkheid.<\/p>\n
