Uncut steel engraving with the court cards of a historicising deck of playing cards, published by Ferdinand Piatnik around 1860. WIth original hand-colouring. Size: print 28.5 × 24.5 cm; frame 53.5 × 49.5 cm.

During the period of the Austro-Hungarian Monarchy, Vienna was home to numerous playing-card makers. Ferdinand Piatnik began colouring playing cards in the early nineteenth century; the firm Ferd. Piatnik & Söhne is still in existence today.
