INTER-ANTIQUARIAAT MEFFERDT & DE JONGE

Antique maps, prints and drawings

Inter-Antiquariaat

For almost 50 years Inter-Antiquariaat and Antiquariaat Pieter Mefferdt have been buying and selling antique books, atlasses, prints and drawings. Until the beginning of the 1990s the trade was mainly between dealers, nowadays we focus on private and institutional collectors.

about us

Since 2002 Inter-Antiquariaat and Antiquariaat Pieter Mefferdt act under one name: Inter-Antiquariaat Mefferdt & De Jonge. In 2004, the company passed on from founder Peter de Jonge (1936-2004) to his son Robert-Jan de Jonge (1967). Partner Harry Kenter (1933-2020), owner of Antiquariaat Pieter Mefferdt, retired in 2009.

We sell the most beautiful city plans, maps and sea charts mainly from the 16th to the 19th century. Town views, drawn and/or printed until about 1850, also form an important part of the collection. We love prints and drawings with a story, often pieces of Dutch cultural heritage. In addition, for more than 15 years we have been the largest dealer in steel engravings and photogravures by Sir Lawrence Alma-Tadema worldwide.

Antiquarian books currently are not a part of our inventory.

ALL OFFERED ITEMS ARE AUTHENTIC AND ANTIQUE

All items offered are guaranteed original antiques, published or made at or around the date specified. We do not sell reproductions or facsimiles. A Certificate of Authenticity is provided to our clients for every item we supply.

We are members in good standing of the Dutch Association of Antiquarian Booksellers (NVvA), the International League of Antiquarian Booksellers (ILAB), the Association of Fine Art Dealers in The Netherlands (KVHOK) -where Robert-Jan served as a member of the board between 2016 and 2020- and the International Confederation of Art and Antique Dealers Associations (CINOA). We observe the highest professional and ethical standards, and abide by the KVHOK Code of Conduct.

We normally exhibit at a couple of fairs each year. In 2023, for now this is only PAN Amsterdam. We publish catalogues at the occasion of the fairs we attend, in hard copy and on our site.

Our website shows just part of our collection. If you are seeking a particular item, or wish to visit us outside of the fairs, please contact us.
