With a theatrical gesture, the man opens his long coat. He looks over his shoulder at an elegant lady. She seems startled (or is she looking pityingly?) by his action.
The print appears to mock decency within the context of the social customs and values of the time. It is a typical example of how social observations were depicted in a satirical and critical manner.
