ELEGANT ORNAMENT STUDIES
Baroque beauties from “Grandes Études d’Ornemens par Jullien“, a portfolio of lithographs published in 1844 in Paris by Jeanmin and Goupil & Vibert and in London by the Anaglyphic Company. Size (images): 53 x 43.5 cm.
We see female figures in lavish, baroque compositions, surrounded by elegant foliage and flowers, creating a graceful and almost ethereal appearance. The subtle details and flowing lines enhance the sense of elegance and refinement that is characteristic of the French Baroque style.
The name ‘Jullien‘ possibly refers to the French sculptor Pierre Julien (1731-1804), whose work was marked by similar delicate ornamentation and elegance.
